Toe Pain

toe painToe pain….Really it is an uncomfortable feeling in the toes. It may be temporary or constant.

What are the causes of Toe pain?

Any injury or any infections in the muscles, bones, joints of the toe causes pain. Other causes of toe pain may be, arthritis, Bunions, Plantar fasciitis, Calluses. Let us see in detail ….

Toe pain caused by Injury:

-Burns

-Broken toe by accident .

-Removal of the toe by surgery(amputation).

-Strain in the legs and toes.

-Sprain in the legs and toes.

-Turf toe, which is a common athletic injury where tendon under big toe is injure.

-Splinter.

-Dislocation of the toe -joint.

-Sores on the toes also causes toe-pain.

Toe pain caused by Infection:

-Arthritis or the infection in the joint.

-Acute inflammatory arthritis , which is commonly called as Gout.

-Wrong shoes often causes hammer toe which is often painful.

-Bursitis.

-Infection due to Ingrown toe nail.

-Diabetic neuropathic problems causes toe pain severe.

-Rheumatic problems.

-Tumor in the bone, which is rare.

Now, let us see the symptoms of toe pain:

-Pain in the joints.

-Difficulty of movement of leg.

-Numbness in the toes, where you won’t feel the sensation on touching.

-Burning pain in the toe.

-Often there will be swelling in the toes accompanied by pain.

-Discoloration of the skin or the change in colour.

-There can be symptoms for fever, flu, head-aches.

If the toe pain are ignored:

-It may result in spreading of infection.

-Worsening the health conditions.

-Toe problem kept long will turn to Nerve related problems .

-Loss of toe.

How to prevent Toe pain:

It is said “Prevention is better than cure”. We as a human -being can’t prevent each and every thing in the day to day life . But we can prevent the causes leading to toe pain ,there by inviting further complications. If the pain extends , more than one to two days, visit a medical practioner immediatly…Never attempt any self -medication, or any bathroom surgery.
